Ferrari 500

GranD PRIX of Great Britain 1952

This is one of the classical (and old) Revival kits. The body comes prepainted in the box and I was

lucky to find a rather good and smooth paintjob. In practice one has to build “only” the chassis. The procedure is, actually, rather long: most of the parts (the chassis, engine etc.) are in white metal, which needs a lot of cleaning before starting the paint process. Some pictures of the

raw parts taken during the build can be found here.

Overall, the quality of the kit is quite good, though I modified a few things here and there to improve the realism. For example, the shift lever in the kit is totally wrong, out of  proportions,

so I replaced it with a pin with spherical head, properly painted. The spark plugs are molded in rubber. Instead of replacing them with wires, I preferred to paint it with some addition of metal adesive foil to improve the realism. Some metal foil was also used to improve the appearence of

the steering wheel
