Carlos Kenig
Chaire Schlumberger pour les sciences mathématiques
Carlos E. Kenig, mathématicien de renommée internationale, est reconnu pour ses contributions pionnières à l’analyse harmonique et aux équations aux dérivées partielles, notamment à l’étude des équations dispersives non linéaires.
Carlos E. Kenig est professeur émérite distingué Luis Block au département de mathématiques de l’Université de Chicago. Il est reconnu pour ses travaux utilisant les outils et les techniques de l’analyse harmonique dans différents domaines des équations aux dérivées partielles.
Plus particulièrement, au cours des 30 dernières années, Kenig a apporté des contributions pionnières à l’étude des équations dispersives non linéaires, notamment dans le cadre de ses recherches récentes sur le comportement à long terme de grandes solutions d’équations des ondes non linéaires critiques.
Il a obtenu son doctorat (PhD) à l’Université de Chicago en 1978. Après avoir été enseignant-chercheur à l’Université de Princeton, puis professeur à l’Université du Minnesota, Kenig est retourné à l’Université de Chicago en 1985.
En 2017, Kenig a donné les conférences du colloque de l’American Mathematical Society. Depuis 2023, il est membre du Conseil scientifique de l’Institut des Hautes Études Scientifiques (IHES).
