Les chercheurs invités

Le programme d’accueil de chercheurs invités constitue la partie la plus importante de l’activité scientifique de l’Institut. Sélectionnés sur candidature ou invités par le conseil scientifique, chaque année environ 200 chercheurs viennent du monde entier, pour une durée moyenne de 2,5 mois.
Les chaires triennales offrent une grande liberté d’animation scientifique avec la possibilité d’inviter des collaborateurs ou d’organiser des événements et permettent d'inviter un ou plusieurs titulaires pour des durées plus longues.

La chaire Schlumberger pour les sciences mathématiques

Créée grâce au soutien et à la confiance de Schlumberger en 2006, cette chaire s'intéresse aux questions fondamentales à l'interface de l'industrie et des hautes technologies. Plus d'informations.

    Chaire Schlumberger pour les sciences mathématiques

    Yves Barral mène des recherches en biologie, guidé par la question des liens entre mathématiques et biologie, et des raisons pour lesquelles ces liens restent confus et peu explorés.

    Clément Mouhot, mathématicien

    Chaire Schlumberger pour les sciences mathématiques

    Clément Mouhot est professeur de mathématique à l'université de Cambridge. Il s'intéresse à l'analyse mathématique des fondements de la mécanique statistique, à l'interface des équations aux dérivées partielles, des probabilités et des inégalités fonctionnelles.

    Pierre Raphael, mathématicien

    Chaire Schlumberger pour les sciences mathématiques

    Pierre Raphael est titulaire de la Chaire Herchel Smith de mathématique pure à la faculté de mathématique de Cambridge.

    Ses recherches autour des équations aux dérivées partielles non linéaires visent à décrire les mécanismes de concentration d’énergie et de formation de singularités lors de la propagation d’ondes non linéaires.


La chaire Gretchen et Barry Mazur

Créée en 2018 par William R. Hearst III en hommage au couple Mazur, la chaire Gretchen et Barry Mazur est réservée à un professeur en mathématiques.


La Chaire Alexzandria Figueroa et Robert Penner

Créée en 2019 par Robert Penner, mathématicien et chercheur invité à l'IHES depuis plus de 25 ans, la chaire Alexzandria Figueroa et Robert Penner permet d'accueillir un mathématicien ou une mathématicien de haut niveau. Plus d'informations.

    Professeur en mathématique au Courant Institute of Mathematical de l'université de New York, Gérard Ben Arous est un spécialiste de la théorie des probabilités et de ses applications.


La chaire Israel Gelfand de mathématiques

La chaire Israel Gelfand a été créée en 2014 en l'honneur du grand mathématicien, symbole de l’excellence scientifique et du partage des connaissances, deux valeurs fondamentales de l’IHES. Israel Gelfand a lui même effectué plus de dix séjours de recherche à l’Institut. Depuis 2024, la chaire Israel Gelfand est financée par la Fondation Squarepoint. Plus d'informations.

    Dennis Gaitsgory, professeur en mathématique au Max-Planck-Institute for Mathematics, Bonn, est connu pour ses recherches sur le programme de Langlands.

    Chaire Israel Gelfand de mathématiques, financée par la Fondation Squarepoint

    Takeshi Saito, professeur de mathématiques à l'université de Tokyo, est un expert en géométrie arithmétique, connu notamment pour ses contributions fondamentales à la théorie de la ramification des corps locaux et des faisceaux l-adiques, à la cohomologie étale et aux représentations galoisiennes.


La chaire Louis Michel de physique théorique

La chaire Louis Michel de physique théorique a été créée en 2000 en l'honneur de Louis Michel, professeur permanent de physique de 1962 à 1992. Plus d'informations.

La chaire René Thom

Créée en 2013 en l'honneur de René Thom, mathématicien et professeur permanent à l'IHES de 1963 à 1990, la chaire permet d’accueillir un chercheur qui travaille à l’interface de la biologie théorique.
