IHES is located in Bures-sur-Yvette village 25 km to the south west of Paris and can be conveniently reached by car and public transport:

Commuter train (RER B)
From Paris take an RER B train towards St-Rémy-lès-Chevreuse (B4) and get off the train at Bures-sur-Yvette train station (*). Exit from the train station at the head of the train end, do not cross the railroad. Walk back 400 meters on Georges Seneuze Boulevard along the train tracks until you reach Rue Charles de Gaulle. Turn right and continue to walk 50 meters away from the train tracks. When you pass the roundabout on your left side you will see the IHES entrance across the road.
(*) FYI: the name of trains which stop at the Bures-sur-Yvette station always begins with the letter P (PLIC, PUMA, PAPA, PIER….)
INTERNATIONAL VISITORS
Air
Paris is served by two airports CDG (Charle de Gaulle, Rossy) and ORY (Orly). The ORLY airport is closer to IHES.
Arrival at ORY
From the terminal follow the signs to an ORLYVAL shuttle train which connects the two ORLY airport terminals Sud and Ouest to the RER B train station Antony. You need to purchase ORLYVAL shuttle train ticket with RER B train ticket before boarding the ORLYVAL shuttle train. ORLYVAL brings you to the RER B train station Antony. Follow the signs to the platform showing trains toSt-Rémy-lès-Chevreuse (direction opposite to Paris) and board the train RER B towards St-Rémy-lès-Chevreuse. Get off at Bures-sur-Yvette.
Arrival at CDG
From the CDG terminals follow the signs trains to Paris and then to RER B. You need to purchase an RER B train ticket destination Bures-sur-Yvette before boarding the train. Follow the signs to the platform showing trains to Paris and board the train RER B towards St-Rémy-lès-Chevreuse. Get off the train at Bures-sur-Yvette.
YOUR ARRIVAL:
The IHES main entrance is 35 Route de Chartres.
The reception is located on the ground floor of the Administrative Building, on your left after the gate. Open hours: 09h00-12h00 / 14h00-17h30.
The Motchane Amphitheater is located inside the Scientific Building.
The Marilyn and James Simons Conference Centre is behind the car park.
