IHES is advertising one (2+1) year post-doctoral position in theoretical and/or mathematical physics with a starting date in fall 2026.
Successful candidate will work with Prof. Slava Rychkov on problems of interest to the Simons Collaboration on Probabilistic Paths to Quantum Field Theory, in particular on the tensor network renormalization group for statistical physics lattice models. We welcome applications of candidates from a wide range of backgrounds from theoretical physics to pure mathematics. Candidates with experience in tensor network algorithms, rigorous statistical mechanics, probabilistic approaches to quantum field theory, stochastic partial differential equations, rigorous approaches to the renormalization group, and related areas will receive special consideration.
Contract details
The IHES scientific environment provides superb conditions for research in theoretical physics. The position will be covered by highly competitive package funded by ERC including: salary and full health coverage, susbsidized housing at one of the IHES residences for the first two years, subsidized access to the cafeteria for lunch Monday through Friday, funds for travel and to participate in scientific events related to the project.
